Areas where ICTs are used.

ICTs in Medicine

ICTs are used a lot in medicine. For example, it is used on body scanners to look inside the patient and see what the problem/ disease is., also to look for tumors and other abnormalities. Other use is for patient monitoring. When you are in the hospital, workers connect you to a monitor, that tell the vitals, like pulse. It helps the doctor to be monitoring patient easier. Also for organ transplants, because all the people who needs a organ are in a database, so when there is a organ, see who is compatible.

ICTs in food design and production

Some examples of uses of ICTs in food design and production are: making the wrapper for the food with apps and send it to their supervisors. Other is using machines to coordinate the work, or make it, like there are machines with the data of what is supposed to be the people doing, or machines doing things. Also for administrating the workplace and the design ideas.

ICTs in supermarkets

One use of ICTs in here is to monitor and control stock, because there is a database to keep in control the quantity of objects in the market. Also the supermarket checkout machines (EPOS terminals) that are used to charge the price of the object. Also to make sales analysis to know what are the most sold objects and which ones are not that popular.

ICTs in banks

The ICTs are used in the Automated Teller Machines (ATM) for withdraw cash, check an account balance, order a cheque book, etc. Also the smart cards, credit or debit cards to use money to buy things. Also there is the Electronic Funds transfer (EFT) used also to pay things instead of using cash. But on this one is that the bank account is updated right away so there is no need to wait for cheques to clear.

I think that ICTs are used a lot in actual world because of the advances of technology. Technology is the use of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, to make life easier. So in this technological world, the applications of ICTs are increasing non stop, because every day you discover something new.

Internet and Cloud services

The internet is a huge network, because it is connected in a global magnitude. This network uses a protocol to transmit data via different types of media. A browser is a program that allow the users to access web pages on the Internet. Some browsers are Firefox, chrome, safari, Microsoft edge and Opera. A search engine is a service that is used to search for information and other content on the WWW. Some search engines are Yahoo, Google, bing, ask.com and  msn. Lastly we have the Cloud service,  that is any IT services that are provisioned and accessed from a cloud computing provider. Some examples are iCloud, Dropbox, Google drive, OneDrive and Verizon cloud.

My favorite movie

My favorite movie: Hachi: A dog´s tale
This movie is about one dog, that after his owner mr Wilson dies, he waits for him like any other day at the station, and even if sometimes the family of Wilson tries to get him back home, he always escaped to go to the station to wait for his owner to come back.
I really liked it because I personally love drama movies (even if they make me cry, like this one), but this story is also about the strong bond between Mr Wilson and Hachi, and the hopes of the dog to see him again, really made me feel melancolic. also, I really love dogs and I think they are creatures that give lots of love, and that story just make my belief stronger.

Networks and WWW

A network is a set of devices that communicate with one another. It can be small, just 2 devices, or larger, with billions of devices. There are different types of networks, 11 to be specific, and they’re cataloged by the “function” (who uses it) of the network and/or the size (where).
These are:

  1. Personal Area Network (PAN)
  2. Local Area Network (LAN)
  3. Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
  4. Campus Area Network (CAN)
  5. Metropolitan Area Network (MAN)
  6. Wide Area Network (WAN)
  7. Storage-Area Network (SAN)
  8. System-Area Network (Also SAN)
  9. Passive Optical Local Area Network (POLAN)
  10. Enterprise Private Network (EPN)
  11. Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Now, the World Wide Web consist of all the pages you can get into using a web browser, and it’s not the same as internet, because internet is a big network, the WWW isn’t.
